Holy smokes, your boy got selected to participate in the Valence Projects x ArtloudLA “My Homies” Group Show in DTLA starting tomorrow, Friday October 25th. I’ve been neck deep in too many things but I’ll give a general update. Here is the link to RSVP if you’re in the LA area. The image will take you there as well.
• Back in school full time focusing on a graphic design certificate, while taking French and Photography courses as well. Homework is keeping me busy.
• I’m also taking a Sustainability Workshop offered for free by the school as well. Toured Mike Wann’s NET-ZERO home in Santa Monica —- INSANE! Learning a lot and thinking how I can integrate sustainability and circular design into my practices as I become more immersed in making and using found material.
• Entering wk 7 of the Articulation of Process cohort by Burntsienna Research Society, focusing on building the Intellectual Athlete brand manual, offerings, and operations for the next and most exciting evolution of the brand. It has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life - which is saying a lot.
• Submitting for an NBA All Star weekend exhibition at the MoadSF.
• Started NEON GENESIS EVANGELION (shoutout Jason E.C. Wright).
• Piece by Piece - the story of Pharrell Williams just came out. As a lifelong observant and unofficial kindred spirit, seeing his movie told through legos with that amount of detail and intention blew my mind. I felt like I got my own documentary because there are so many things about his story resonated, mirrored my lived experience, as well as many of my ambitions. I cried, I laughed and I also found healing within. It was hands down one of the best movies/docs I’ve ever seen - not just bc of Pharrell. The storytelling and authenticity matched with creativity was astounding. Go watch!
• Finding community, connections, and inspiration in the art world. Embracing the reality that I’m an Artist with a “capital A” is surreal. Shoutout Virgil Abloh.
So much more happening but this is all that I can rack up in my brain. The collage print below and installation will be showing at the gallery tomorrow. Come by!
